The Power of Trust
In today’s reflection, Fr. Gaitley continues exploring the spirituality of St. Louis de Montfort, highlighting the profound importance of trust in our relationship with God. Mary’s entire life was a living act of trust — from the Annunciation to Calvary. She surrendered her plans, her understanding, and even her heart, allowing God’s will to lead her every step. De Montfort teaches that this kind of trust is not passive or weak, but courageous and deeply powerful.
Total consecration to Mary is an act of radical trust. It means placing everything — our worries, successes, relationships, and sufferings — into her maternal hands. De Montfort invites us to imitate Jesus Himself, who entrusted His life to Mary in His Incarnation and again at the Cross. If the Son of God trusted her so completely, should we not do the same?
Fr. Gaitley reminds us that when we consecrate ourselves to Mary, we’re not abandoning our freedom. Instead, we’re choosing to walk the most direct path to holiness. Trusting Mary allows us to stop striving on our own and begin living in the peace and confidence that come from surrender. It’s a daily “yes,” a way of life rooted in letting go and letting God act through her.
Today, we’re challenged to lay down our fears and entrust our hearts to the one who leads us perfectly to Jesus.
