Love Jesus with her love
In today’s reflection, Fr. Gaitley brings us to the heart of Mother Teresa’s Marian consecration, which is centered on two key truths: the burning thirst of Jesus for souls, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary as the place where we can remain close to Him.
Mother Teresa believed that to quench the thirst of Jesus, we must first hear it. And to hear it clearly, we need Mary. Mary, who stood at the foot of the Cross, heard that cry more deeply than anyone else — and she teaches us how to respond. Mother Teresa’s daily prayer was simple but profound: “Mary, keep me in your most pure heart.” She saw Mary’s heart as the safest place to hear Jesus’ voice and to love Him in return.
Fr. Gaitley emphasizes that this relationship with Mary isn’t just emotional or symbolic — it’s a covenant of love. Through consecration, we promise to remain with Mary, to let her guide every aspect of our lives, and to live in union with her Immaculate Heart, which leads directly to Jesus.
Mother Teresa urges us to maintain an ardent desire to grow in this intimacy. It’s not about perfection but about constant striving, constant returning, and constant love. In Mary’s heart, we find the strength to respond to Jesus’ thirst with our lives.
Today, ask Mary to draw you deeper into her heart — so you may live in union with her, and love Jesus with her love.
