Want to be a saint?
Fr. Gaitley invites us today to reflect on the universal call to holiness and how Mary plays a powerful role in helping us become saints. Drawing again from St. Maximilian Kolbe, we’re reminded that sanctity isn’t reserved for mystics or martyrs alone. Every one of us is called to sainthood — not someday, but now, in the midst of our ordinary lives.
The key, according to Kolbe and reinforced by Fr. Gaitley, is total dependence on grace. We cannot make ourselves holy through effort alone. We need divine help — and that help flows most freely when we consecrate ourselves to Mary, the Mediatrix of All Graces. This title means that every grace God wants to give us passes through her hands. Not because He needs her, but because He wants her maternal love to accompany His gifts.
Mary doesn’t keep grace for herself; she distributes it lavishly to those who trust her. When we give ourselves fully to her, she channels the very life of God into our souls and helps us respond to it. She doesn’t just make holiness possible — she makes it joyful, personal, and attainable.
To become a saint, we must surrender. We must let Mary, filled with the Holy Spirit, shape our lives in union with God’s will. Her intercession accelerates our transformation and leads us straight to the heart of Jesus. That’s her mission — and she will never fail us if we say yes.
