Mary teaches us how to live in peace amidst uncertainty
In today’s reflection, Fr. Gaitley invites us to pause and join Mary on her own kind of “retreat.” He presents Mary not only as the Mother of God, but as the first and most faithful disciple of Christ — one who lived her entire life walking by faith, pondering deeply, and trusting completely.
Throughout the Gospels, Mary doesn’t always speak or act in dramatic ways. Often, she is simply present, listening, watching, pondering everything in her heart. Her way is quiet, but powerful. Fr. Gaitley reminds us that this contemplative posture is not weakness — it is strength rooted in love and deep union with God’s will.
What stands out most is this truth: Jesus Himself entrusted His entire life — from conception to death — to Mary. If the Son of God chose to be formed, loved, and led by her, how can we do any less? He gave us the perfect example. He trusted her completely, and He invites us to do the same.
Consecration means entering Mary’s retreat — her heart. It means choosing to slow down, to ponder, to walk by faith even when the road isn’t clear. Mary teaches us how to live in peace amidst uncertainty, how to receive God’s grace in silence, and how to say “yes” each day with quiet courage.
Today, we are called to follow Jesus’ example. He entrusted Himself to Mary first — now it’s our turn to do the same, and find rest in her heart.
