“Will you love Me? Will you be Mine?”

In today’s reflection, Fr. Gaitley shares the pivotal moment in Mother Teresa’s life — what she called her “call within a call.” On September 10, 1946, while on a train to Darjeeling, she experienced a profound interior encounter with Jesus. In that moment, He revealed His thirst for souls, especially for the poorest of the poor, and invited her to quench that thirst with her own life of love.

Fr. Gaitley emphasizes the personal nature of this call. Jesus wasn’t speaking abstractly. He was looking at her with love — deeply, personally — and saying: “I thirst for you. Will you come and be My light?” This became the center of her mission and the anchor of her spirituality.

We are reminded that this kind of call isn’t only for saints like Mother Teresa. Jesus speaks to each of us in silence, in prayer, in the depths of our hearts. He looks at us with the same burning love and asks: “Will you love Me? Will you be Mine?”

Mary helps us answer. She teaches us how to listen, how to respond, how to remain faithful. Consecration to her places us in the school of contemplative love — where even in the midst of noise and suffering, we learn to see Jesus in others and in ourselves.

Today, be still. Let Him look at you. Let His thirst awaken yours. And through Mary, say yes.
