Do you accept the gift of Mary?
In today’s reflection, Fr. Gaitley turns our attention to one of the most personal and powerful moments in the Gospel: when Jesus, from the Cross, gives His mother to John with the words, “Behold your mother.” This was not just a gesture of care — it was a divine invitation, one that echoes through time and reaches each of us today. Jesus entrusts Mary to us, just as He entrusted her to John.
Fr. Gaitley challenges us with a simple but life-changing question: Do we accept the gift of Mary? Like John, we are invited to take her into our “home” — not only into our physical space, but into our hearts, our routines, our inner lives. It’s a moment of decision. Will we receive her as our mother, teacher, and guide? Will we let her help form us into saints?
John said yes. He took Mary into his home and into his life from that moment on. And through that yes, he received her love, wisdom, and strength. Jesus asks the same of us — not out of obligation, but out of love. He longs for us to share in the same deep relationship with Mary that He Himself knew.
Consecration is our way of saying yes to that gift. It’s our way of echoing John’s response — and welcoming Mary not as a guest, but as our mother. Today, will you make room for her?
